Pom is a dish that should not be missing from any Surinamese party. This is a casserole consisting of pomtajer (a type of root or earth fruit) with chicken and various herbs. The pomtajer is peeled and then grated, processed with spicy prepared chicken, mixed with the pomtajer and then baked in the oven.

- 1 pack of grated pomtajer
- 500 grams Chicken (chop)
- 250 grams of cured meat cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 large onion
- 3 sprigs of celery
- 150 ml oil
- 2-3 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 cups of water
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- Pom Herb Mix from Swiet Moffo to taste

Instructions
- Heat the oil in the pan.
- Fry the chicken in the hot oil until golden brown.
- Add the POM spice mix (2 to 3 tablespoons).
- Add the onion.
- When the chicken is done, add the pickled meat.
- Now fry the celery and tomato puree.
- Stir well and add two cups of water. Immediately add the sugar and lemon juice and let it simmer. If necessary, add some Pom spice mix from Swiet Moffo to taste.
- Mix well and then pour into an oven dish. One layer of grated pom, then the chicken and the rest on top, cover with the rest of the pomtajer.
- Pour some oil over the dish and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for about 0.5 hours, then the oven at 150 degrees C until done +/- 45 minutes. Njang Swietie
